Nia Dance
Nia is a learning experience with an emphasis on gaining new knowledge about your body and the best ways to move it. Focus is on body sensation - The Body's Voice - to tell you what feels good, or not so good. Paying attention to sensation empowers us to make healthy choices in our bodies which feel good, comfortable, and pleasurable. Our movements therefore become sustainable and have purpose in body and in life.
You will be guided through movement patterns, drawing from a blend of dance, healing and martial art forms. Repeated many times, with soul-stirring music and imagery, you are encouraged to learn, move and personalise your movements with free expression - your body's way.
This time is for you to reconnect to your Self, find the Joy of Movement and connect with like-minded others in a safe place to which you can belong - our Nia community. There is no right or wrong. Holistic conditioning of body, mind, emotions and spirit. In movement we find health.
Beginners and new dancers are welcome. We practise barefoot.
